LISA HAGGERTY
Lisa Haggerty has been a Navy spouse for over 18 years. Her Navy journey started out in Groton, CT, and took her to Vermont, Virginia, Georgia, Kansas, Nebraska and now, the beautiful Pacific Northwest. She is excited that Washington State is her final stop on her Navy journey. She and her husband, Brian, have decided to make Poulsbo their “forever” home. Lisa’s formal education is in Nursing, and while she no longer practices outside the home, her very active 13-year-old son, James, keeps her nursing skills proficient. Along with running a home-based business, Lisa currently serves as her son’s Boy Scout Troop Advancement Chairperson. Lisa’s past volunteer experiences included Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society in Kings Bay, GA and Bangor, WA, the American Red Cross at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska, PTA Treasurer for her son’s elementary school in Kansas and many more activities too numerous to list here. Lisa holds the military spouse and military family close at heart. She will always lend a hand where there is a need and loves to jump right in to new opportunities. She is looking forward to the opportunity to keep West Sound Officers’ Spouses’ Club a welcoming, fun place for all its members, current and future. |

BRITTANY BARFOOT
I have been with WSOSC for two years. I have made so many friends in so many different walks of life and/or careers. I want others to experience that joy of bonded friendships.
My husband and I are both from the HOT state of Arizona. We met at Arizona State University and have been playing Navy Sub life ever since. We have a fur baby named Rosey Rue.
We have lived what feels like everywhere and traveled to many places. All of it has been possible with our Navy lives; however, this is our second time here in Washington. We lived in Everett for a short time, which gave us our love for the PNW. We decided to come back after a few other life experiences. We are hooked! We recently bought a home and are happy to call Washington our forever home!

When moving to Bremerton in the summer of 2011, I didn’t have any connections or friends in the area until my neighbor introduced me to WSOSC. I quickly got involved with the activities and met a very nice, welcoming group of spouses that are just wonderful. My husband and I are empty-nesters for the first time and we will be retiring in the area, so I was concerned that I would be isolated from all relatives and children until I joined WSOSC. I have been very busy making new friends and participating in fun activities. I don’t think that my time spent here in the Pacific Northwest would have been such a positive experience without WSOSC. I intend to continue being a member of the WSOSC well into retirement years. |

My husband recently retired after 30 years of serving the Navy. I have two daughters and have been married 27 years. I have been active in many spouse clubs over the years, and held various positions. This was the first time we've been stationed in the PNW and like it so much that this is now our “forever home.” I joined WSOSC as soon as we moved here so I could meet new people and become involved. I have to say that this club has so many wonderful social groups and awesome people, and I love being a part of it. As the secretary, I continue to serve the club's members and carry on all the great things that WSOSC has started. |

I think spouses groups are lifesavers for people who, for whatever reason, need adults to talk to upon occasion that are not teachers, check-out people, or salesmen. I can remember a time when I had small children, one car, and all my neighbors worked. Dreadfully long days!
I love it here, the free stuff...clams, oysters, mussels, crab, salmon, apples, peaches, plums, cherries, mushrooms of all varieties, mild weather, gorgeous mountain views around every corner, a casual, accepting way of life I've not found anywhere else, a wondrous mix of eclectic cultures, cuisine and capabilities.
